Fairy tales — some of the first literature we were ever introduced to as children. Fairy tales are responsible for our early ideas that anything is possible. Wrongs would be righted, princes were cleverly disguised as monsters and frogs, and castles awaited everyone. What a wonderful world we were transported to every night.

But we grew up, and learned this was all just a fairy tale. But for many of us we still crave that magical world. Oh, just for a moment of anything is possible! I think that is why we are seeing a trend in the publishing market for the retelling of fairy tales.

One great series you may want to check out is the Lunar Chronicles.

These books are not stand alone novels. They should be read in order. The series takes place in a futuristic world were humans, androids, and cyborgs co-exist. Cinder is a teenage cyborg, who faces her evil step-mother, falls in love, and discovers secrets about herself. Throughout the series, she befriends Scarlet, a spaceship pilot; Cress, a computer hacker; and Winter, a Lunar Princess. Together they must try to take down the Evil Queen Levana to save the world.
