Taiwan is celebrating Tourism Day. It takes place on the 15th day after the Lunar New Year, which is Feb. 24th. The day is designed to educate and promote tourism on the island of Taiwan.
I thought we might discuss another type of tourism. I love to travel. Unfortunately, being a Catholic school teacher dictates that I don’t have the money to travel as much as I would like. However, I can travel every day with the help of a good book.
Every January 1st, I print two maps a US map and a world map. I carefully print the year in the corner and begin tracking the settings of all the books I am reading.

It has been my goal for the last three years to read my way through all 50 states. It is a goal I have fallen short of so far. Last year I was left with just 8 states on New Year’s Eve. But this year I feel good about my chances as I have read 11 states so far. As far as the world map, I have decided that I will condense my three world maps and try to read those countries I have yet to reach and discover. I don’t have a set time for completing the world map.
Does any one else have a similar reading challenge?
