Today is National Tennis Pro Day, and I will be honest it is a game I have never really been interested in. Some of my students have tried to explain tennis to me, but I don’t think I will ever appreciate the fine points of the game.
Hence this is not a subject that I read about, but I do have one recommendation for the day:
Taylor Jenkins Reid’s Carrie Soto is Back

When Carrie Soto retires from tennis, she is the best the world has ever seen and presumably will ever see. But six short years later, she is sitting in the stands watching Nicki Chan claim the title of the best in the world.
Carrie decides to come out of retirement to reclaim the title of the best. To do that, she has to not only train hard to regain her old form, but she has to humble herself.
With her father as her coach, Carrie also reconnects with an old flame that she is unsure if she wants to trust. Nevertheless, she has one year to prove that she is still a great tennis player.
